Atari 2600 review -- ROBOT TANK
ROBOT TANK          BY ACTIVISION FOR THE ATARI 2600
Released in 1983
GAME: A battle of Tanks across a playfield - very much like Battle zone in all but name

Lee: "This is battle zone with a few tweaks although just as much fun. The game plays better than the arcade game ever did (maybe its the controls - its been a while since I have played an actual original BZ arcade machine). As ever, the game play is top notch and much addictiveness is injected as you cross colourful the rolling hills looks for those tanks to destroy. All done in lovely details as much and more what the Atari should have coped with. I have to mention the fantastic death scene as the screen fizzles out as another tank is out of the game - superb little touch. It is the little touches that make Robot tank the game that it is. In a toss between the official Atari Battle zone and this - each one is just as good and its hard to choose - maybe the Atari effort wins? but it is nice to have two versions I can play and enjoy - what fun!"

OVERALL: A near perfect slant on Battle Zone
